The most important thing for me, and what's been keeping me from getting a netbook (besides the fact that I can't really afford one) is battery life! How much battery life can you get on this?

I got about 3.5 hours on the small 3-cell battery. If I were to buy this machine again, and use it at a conference its first day out, I'd get the 6-cell version.
